One of the cheapest accommodations that can be used is by taking the train. Currently the only active railroad is the Pulau Aie-Airport Commuter network using the Minangkabau Ekspres train and getting off at Air Tawar Station. Transportation within the city is served by city buses, mikrolet, and taxis. Currently, bendi (a type of horse-drawn carriage) can still be found in the city center, and online motorcycle taxis can be used by using applications on mobile phones. In early 2014, the government started operating the Trans Padang mass bus. All of these transportation options can be used to get to the UNP Air Tawar campus.
